Secret Stickers
What it Is:
Only people who are really curious and alert will notice it. On the sticker you will see pictures of the band members and a link to Myspace. Myspace can be considered as an important platform for upcoming artists. This adds a little more ‘coolness’ to the add I think. The evolving of this phenomena is already there I think, but now on a new scale. It’s not new that people or bands get discovered on Myspace, but this scale of self promoting is something then we can expect in de future. I believe it has a certain effect and not so expensive.
Why it's cool:
Science of the Time: The usage of small stickers and their placement in obscure locations in the street adds mystery and the sense of adventure and secrecy to advertising. It’s static interactivity, but still cool. The artists know how to connect to their listening public who will analyze their urban environment to find visual easter eggs. It’s dolphins in the city meets cool secrecy meets computer game generation meets mental visuality.
