The Meaning of the 21st Century
‘The Transition Generation will not sit around and watch their world being unnecessarily damaged. Their frustrated desires to remake the world and address problems that they have inherited from the 20th century need not result in social unrest. That is the protest model of the 20th century. Today’s youth are more informed and educated. They understand the complexity of 21st-century problems, and they do not seek simplistic answers. Indeed, the challenge of these problems excites and animates them. They are forming international youth networks to adress global warming and AIDS. They entering the world of business, taking their new perspectives and challenging the short-term thinking with images of long-term sustainable development.’
