Marian Salzman, executive vice president, of JWT Worldwide, the world’s fourth largest advertising agency, is one of its most high-profile and consistent luminaries of the trendspotting discipline. She was the first pioneer of focus groups in cyberspace (in a partnership with advertising legend Jay), in 1993. She travels the world professionally (China, India, and Brazil in the past year) and spends her free time at home in a barn in Connecticut, U.S.A., collecting folklorica, entertaining foreign visitors, eating ethnic (read: spicy) foods, reading supermarket fiction, and indulging her two golden retrievers.
